On Saturday Night, November 4, 1995, following the largest peace rally in the history of the State of Israel, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated. The assassination came after months of rising tension between those who supported the Oslo Peace Process and those who opposed it. The traumatic event highlighted deep rifts within Israeli society – between right and left, religious and secular – sending shockwaves across Israel and the Jewish world, and catalyzing processes of national reflection and soul searching.
